Wedgies???

Why MyBetterEndingI blame my wife for this site. It was her idea, so take it up with her. Halfway through most movies or TV shows, I seem to have a knack for knowing how they will end, so much so that I’m not allowed to say anymore, unless she already doesn’t like the story or is bored.

Ever been disappointed by a movie because after a great build up it falls flat? Me too. I often end up cringing from the knowledge of where it’s going, with no way to push it off course toward where it should go. On this site, I’m attempting to salvage some potentially good stories. I’ll also try my hand at predicting where some longer running books, movies, and TV shows are heading. If I get it wrong, feel free to let me hear about it. If I get it right, I reserve the right to gloat.

What’s a Wedgie?

The term “Wedgie” is integral to how I discuss stories and plots. Any vague plot contrivance that you pretty much have to get past in order to enjoy the rest of the story is some kind of Wedgie. For instance, Star Trek is just full of variations on Space Wedgies, Time Wedgies, and Technology Wedgies. You just have to take them at face value and follow where the plot falls out from there.

I want to give full credit to my friend Ed for coming up with the term Wedgie. I would give him a fully named footnote here, but giving a friend’s last name on the Internet without his permission could get a bit thorny.
